Hello!!!
My History I am originally from a very small farming community called Reese. I graduated from high school in 1999 with ninety-eight other classmates. In April of 2003, I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Major in Elementary Education. My minors included Science (6th-8th grade), Math (6th-8th grade), Physical Education, and Early Childhood. In 2008, I completed a Masters in Educational Technology from Western. Living for four years in Kalamazoo made me fall in love with the west side of the state. Looking for a job near Lake Michigan was the best decision that I have made so far. Coloma hired me to teach sixth grade math and seventh grade science. After my third year of teaching, I had to give up teaching math in order to teach science all day. This year I will resume teaching 6th grade math. I have been teaching in Coloma now for twelve years. Outside of the Classroom Activities The need to travel and see the world is a big part of me. Every year since I have been out of college, I use my summer to travel. My experiences include backpacking through Europe. It was the most exciting experience of my life. I have been to over twenty countries located on three different continents. One day may goal is to make it to Australia. During my trips I really have gotten into digital photography. If I were forced to have a job outside of education, I would be interested in traveling the world and taking pictures for National Geographic. The Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure is another passion of mine. After my grandmother learned she had breast cancer, I started participating in the 60-mile walk each summer. My first walk was in 2009. However, after 5 years, I decided to take this summer off. Next year I plan on completing my 6th walk. My spring is spent on the softball fields. I am looking forward to my 12th year of coaching JV Softball at Coloma this spring. When I am not on the fields with my own team, my nephews are begging me to watch or play baseball with them. I have two nephews that I adore. |
